Neonatal Dermatology

Skin care for new-borns is incredibly important, especially if the baby is premature or in serious condition. The skin barrier qualities, transcutaneous absorption, and transepidermal water losses of the skin are all emphasized in skin care guidelines focused by neonatal dermatologists. Neonatal skin is structurally unique. Dermatological illnesses in new-borns are typically benign and self-limiting, but they can sometimes be a sign of underlying systemic disease and be life threatening. Neonatal skin differs from adult skin in several aspects, including being thinner, less hairy, and less firmly bonded. Protective flora is missing, and the microbial load is constantly changing. Neonatal and Infant Dermatology is a comprehensive and richly illustrated reference on neonatal and infant dermatologic conditions.
