Dr Frederik Loersch MD has his expertise in intra- and interhospital transport of pre- and newborn baby's. He is senior consultant and has been for the last 12 years coordinator of the Study Group of transport neonatology at the University Hospital Mannheim. Though a large ECMO (Extra Corporal membran Oxygenation) Programm and a delivery room who ist dezentral to the NICU there are a lot of experience with transport of Newborn baby's. He has developed a hybrid bed solution after years of experience in research, evaluation, teaching and administration for a save transports. With the hybrid there was moren than 1000 intrahospital transports in the last years. He is also an external consultant for KITS (children intensiv transport system) for the European air ambulance. He has developped a intrahospital unit for newbors for transports under ECMO, NO and high frequenz ventilation. Dr Loerschs primary research interests include pediatric and neonatal transports, ECMO, RSV related diseases and neonatal nutrition. He was the leading investigator of the first ECMO transports in Europe.

Dr Pong is a consultant neonatologist at Penang Adventist Hospital, Malaysia. Since 2010, he has been an instructor of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) ( Certified by American Academy of Pediatrics), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)(Certified by American Heart Association) and a lead instructor of the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program. All the above life support education programs involve medical simulation and Dr Pong has vast experience in this field. He is also a certified ECMO ( Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ) specialist and ECMO simulation is part of his routine teaching activities. He was certified as an instructor in medical simulation by the Institute for Medical Simulation recently. He has been actively involved in teaching doctors and nurses at Allied Health Centre of Excellence in Penang (AHCoE), a NGO with one of the most well-equipped state-of-the-art medical simulation centre in Northern Malaysia. He is currently the Medical Director of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program at Penang Adventist Life Support Education Centre. He is an associate lecturer of the Penang Medical College and a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

I’ve practiced midwifery for 38 years. I was medically trained in the 1970’s. My midwifery training was not what I expected it to be. Mothers and babies were separated. Birth was not calm or peaceful. It was not the stories from my grandmother who was a baby catcher in the villages of Poland and who birthed 13 children at home. Nor was it anything like the home birth stories of my mothers or my sisters. I’ve spent my entire life observing systems and learning more wonderful ways to deliver care and be connected with women. “Why can’t we lower interventions, why can’t we see less post-partum depression, why can’t we be more human?” I’ve spent my entire life observing practices, developing new ways, implementing change and learning more wonderful ways to stay connected with women. “I have lowered intervention rates. I have hardly seen a woman depressed after birth under my care and I am definitely human”. Most of my knowledge and expertise came from observing and being with the women and families that I’ve cared for. I’ve taken more than 1000 women through the continuity of care program. My homeopathic mind was my greatest asset. Women were educated and learned to connect with their body and their baby. They learned to understand and trust the entire process. They used traditional and complimentary therapies. They birthed well and celebrated birth in quiet calm environments. “Babies, mothers fathers and family were confident healthy and happy.” Unfortunately that is not the case for millions of women across the globe….Where we have system centred care and medically driven care that causes long term psychological harm to the mother and her baby… We have a fear of what’s natural. We have lost touch with nature…. That’s why we are all here today…. …Finding wonderful peaceful and loving ways towards….Birthing Humanity…..

He worked at IRCCS Burlo Garofalo in Trieste and at the hospital Anna S. of Como. She headed the National Development Project for Nurses in Lebanon at the MAE's Directorate-General for Development Cooperation. He has worked in Afghanistan and the Republican African Center for international organizations dealing with health care training, co-ordination of development projects in obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics and cardiology. Since 2010 she has been working at Meyer and since 2014 she is responsible for coordinating first aid department activities.

She has worked at Knoll Pharmaceuticals, Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Company, the Squibb Institute for Medical Research (now Bristol-Myers Squibb) and Key Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Pesco Koplowitz is a member of numerous medical and clinical pharmacology organizations and committees, most recently being asked to serve on the FDA/PhRMA QT Working Group Committee. Dr. Pesco Koplowitz has been responsible for numerous successful INDs and NDAs during her 22-year career and holds several use patents in the treatment of various diseases. She has worked in multiple therapeutic areas, and has personal interests in the areas of overall drug development, PK/PD modeling and drug-drug interactions, receptor-binding modeling and special population clinical trials, especially pediatric, elderly and critical-care patients. Dulanie Gunasekera MBBS MD FRCP(Lon) FSLCP, is a consultant paediatrician and professor of Paediatrics. She is the current Chair and Academic Head of t department of Paediatrics, University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Sri Lanka. Her interests are in neonatology, breast feeding promotion, immunization and dengue infection and has authored over 40 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. She is also a Master Trainer for the POQI method of quality improvement. Professor Gunasekera has been Past President of the Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians and the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka, during which time she was instrumental in promoting basic newborn care in the peripheral regions of Sri Lanka.

Dr. Verklan's main research emphasis is on the development of the fetal and neonatal cardiopulmonary and autonomic nervous systems as evaluated by linear and non-linear methods of analysis. She works with the University of Houston Superconductivity Center and uses magnetocardiography to obtain heart rate signals from the fetus and EKGs to obtain physiologic variability from the neonate. Terese has taught in all programs (baccalaureate, masters and doctoral (both PhD and DNP) prior to coming to UTMB. Currently she is teaching in the PhD program, GNRS 6350 Clinical Nurse Investigations in Nursing Grant Proposal. Dr. Verklan still works at the bedside in a Level IIIC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She is an internationally recognized expert in the care of neonates and consults both nationally and internationally as a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist on matters related to the care of the newborn. Dr. Verklan is a member of several editorial boards and is the Associate Editor for Nursing and Health Sciences and a Contributing Editor for the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing. She also reviews for nursing and medical journals.
